Are you making assumptions out of fear or facts?
May 20, 2024You might not realise this, but assumptions we make about situations might be fuelled more by fear of what might happen than facts we know.
Let me tell you a story to explain…
Last week myself and a friend organised a protest about the bombing in Rafah and the ongoing genocide.
Another friend opted not to help organise, saying we needed to give the police 7 days notice and we should inform the council. As there wasn't enough time they didn't want to take part.
When you don't want to do something do you check your choices or jump on the first reason, assuming it's true?
There is no need to notify police of a peaceful protest in Scotland, or the council.
This leaves me curious though, what was the actual reason my friend didn't want to take part?
Here's an example of what I am talking about… Read on and check your assumptions!
There are two seats left on my mindfulness course which starts on Friday 24th May. Would you like a place?
What reasons do you come up with to not take part? Can you give yourself the courtesy of checking if you are making assumptions? For me, blocking the possibility of an experience is generally based around fear of what might happen.
Once you've checked your assumptions, "No thanks" is a perfectly respectable answer, BUT if you would like to check any assumptions with me to find out if they are true about THIS course, please book your free 20 minute chat today:

Don’t make the mistake of assuming that mindfulness is not for you without exploring the possibility of where it could take you…
